3. Delivery Conditions

This is a KEY FEATURE of EN 10139 – Multiple delivery conditions available:

SymbolConditionDescription / Application
AAnnealedSoft condition, best formability. For DC01, DC03, DC04 only.
LCSkin-passedLightly skin-passed after annealing. Prevents stretcher strain marks. All grades available.
C290Work hardenedTensile strength 290-430 MPa (DC01) / 290-390 MPa (DC03, DC04)
C340Work hardenedTensile strength 340-490 MPa (DC01) / 340-440 MPa (DC03, DC04)
C390Work hardenedTensile strength 390-540 MPa (DC01) / 390-490 MPa (DC03, DC04)
C440Work hardenedTensile strength 440-590 MPa (DC01) / 440-540 MPa (DC03, DC04)
C490Work hardenedTensile strength 490-640 MPa (DC01) / 490-590 MPa (DC03, DC04)
C590Work hardenedTensile strength 590-740 MPa (DC01) / min 590 MPa (DC03) / 590-690 MPa (DC04)
C690Work hardenedTensile strength min 690 MPa. Only available for DC01. Higher strength application.

Important Notes on Work Hardened Conditions (C290-C690):

  • Available only for grades DC01, DC03, and DC04
  • Higher strength through cold work – reduced formability
  • Heat during welding may affect mechanical properties
  • Coating at elevated temperatures may cause recovery/recrystallization

5. Mechanical Properties – Skin-Passed Condition (LC)

Properties for the most common delivery condition:

GradeRe max (MPa)Rm (MPa)A80 min (%)r90 minn90 min
DC01280270-41028
DC03240270-370341.3
DC04210270-350381.60.180

DC06170270-330382.10.220
DC07150270-310402.50.230

Thickness Adjustments for Mechanical Properties:

  • For 0.5 mm < t ≤ 0.7 mm: Re increases by 20 MPa, A80 decreases by 2%, HV increases by 5
  • For t ≤ 0.5 mm and > 0.25 mm: Re increases by 40 MPa, A80 decreases by 4%, HV increases by 10
  • For t ≤ 0.25 mm and > 0.15 mm: A80 decreases by 6%
  • For t ≤ 0.15 mm: A80 decreases by 8%
  • For DC04 with t > 1.5 mm: Re max = 235 MPa
  • For surface MB and MC: Re and Rm increase by 20 MPa, A80 decreases by 2%, HV increases by 5

7. Surface Appearance

SymbolThicknessConditionsDescription
MAAll thicknessesAll delivery conditionsBright, metallically clean. Pitting, grooves, scratches permitted.
MB≤ 2.0 mm (standard); > 2.0 mm by agreementAll except ABright, clean, uniform smooth appearance. Minor defects OK if not visibly impairing.
MC≤ 1.0 mm (standard); > 1.0 mm by agreementAll except AMirror finish. Bright, clean. Defects not impairing mirror appearance.

Important Notes:

  • Default surface appearance is MA with smooth finish (RL)
  • First two inner and outer laps of coil may have greater defects
  • Uninspected surface must meet at least MA requirements

8. Surface Finish

Surface FinishSymbolRoughness Ra
RoughRRRa ≥ 1.5 μm
MattRM0.6 μm < Ra ≤ 1.8 μm
Smooth (default)RLRa ≤ 0.6 μm
MirrorRNRa ≤ 0.2 μm (Only with surface MC)

9. Oiling and Corrosion Protection

  • Products normally supplied oiled (both sides)
  • Non-drying neutral oil, uniformly spread
  • Corrosion protection: 3 months under normal packing/transport/storage conditions
  • Oil removable by alkaline solution or normal solvents
  • Unoiled supply available by request (increased scratching and rust risk)
  • Delivery condition A has only traces of rolling oil

10. Surface Coating Suitability

Coating TypeRequirements
Organic coatingAll products suitable
Metallic coating (hot dip/thermal spray)All products suitable (zinc, tin, lead). Note: Work hardened conditions C290-C690 may experience recovery/recrystallization at elevated temperatures.
Electrolytic coatingProducts with surface appearance MB or MC only

Important Notes:

  • Surface must be properly prepared before coating application
  • Coating type must be specified at time of ordering

11. Testing and Inspection

11.1 Acceptance Unit

  • 5 tonnes or fraction thereof of same grade, condition, surface, and thickness
  • Coils exceeding 5 tonnes = single acceptance unit

11.2 Required Tests

  • Tensile test for each acceptance unit
  • Alternatively, hardness test (if agreed at ordering)
  • Determination of r and n values (if agreed, for thickness > 0.5 mm and width > 250 mm)

11.3 Test Methods

  • Tensile test: EN ISO 6892-1:2009 (longitudinal test pieces, parallel to rolling direction)
