Symbol – Description
a – Radial width of the eye
b – Radial width of the retaining ring opposite the opening
c – Distance of the measuring plates during the conicity test
d₁ – Bore diameter
d₂ – Groove diameter
d₃ – Outer diameter of the retaining ring in the unstressed state
d₄ – Smallest coaxial diameter of the installation space during assembly calculated as: d₄ = d₁ − 2.1 a
d₅ – Diameter of mounting holes
E – Modulus of elasticity
F – Load on the retaining ring for shielding test
Fₙ – Load capacity of the groove at a yield strength of the grooved material of 200 MPa
