Quantity: 1 piece to high production volumes

STANDARD CENTRIFUGAL CASTING

The Method

The CENTRIFUGAL CASTING method is used to make hollow cylindrical objects. A revolving mold is filled with molten metal. The metal is held against the mold’s wall by centrifugal force.

Design principles
Only applicable to basic hollow axisymmetric forms. Ideal for long forms (no core required). Although the outside surface cross-section can be of any form (circular, square, polygonal, etc.), the inner surface cross-section must be round.

Technical information

Carbon (excluding high C) and low alloy steels, brass, bronze, aluminum, nickel alloys, cast iron, and copper are the most often utilized materials. High phosphorus and high lead alloys, as well as refractory and reactive alloys, are not appropriate.

The centrifugal force improves mold filling.

There are no gates.

Quality is superior to that of a permanent mold or sand casting.

Typical applications

Pipes, pressure tanks, and cylinder liners for engines
